Our History

Our roots go back to 1904 when we got our start as First National Bank in Alpine. We were made in West Texas, so we never underestimate the potential of this region, its people, and its values.

The West Texas National Bank you know today took its modern shape when J. L. Davis, a Midland businessman and investor, had a vision that good businesses and good bankers could build something lasting. In 1983, J. L. Davis, David Davis, and Keith Moore acquired First National Bank of Pecos , and the group steadily grew, acquiring more banks through the years. In 2001, they were all united under a single name, which we still hold today.

Our name and our look have changed a few times, but our values have always been the same. We’ve stood the test of time because we always prioritize what matters most: standing for our neighbors.

We’re still a family-owned bank, and every one of our decisions is made by people who live here, invest here, and care deeply about our communities. We’re one of the state’s largest privately owned community banks, and our network of branches spans the heart of West Texas.

Community Commitment
